Another self released single from the Desaparecidos

It's official, the Desaparecidos (it still takes me five minutes to make sure I spelled their name right) are back with new tracks and a tour, coming to Asbury Park, NJ on the 15th. This single is the second one to appear on their site, also self released...haven't had a chance to hear it yet. I guess I'm worried to have my perfect memories of Read Music, Speak Spanish messed with, but everything has to change and evolve I guess. All the bands from your A single is the perfect place to start...is it weird that it's streaming at Rolling Stone? I'm trying not to think about it. The minefield of political punk...

We're pleased to announce "Anonymous" and "The Left is Right," the second set of new recordings from Desaparecidos since the band reunited last year. The double a-side single is available as an instant digital download and a seven-inch single.
Please note the following:
All seven-inch orders are pre-orders. This is important. We expect the seven-inches to ship six to eight weeks from today (February 7th). Please make sure that your shipping address will be your shipping address in April as well!
We will send an email out in mid-March with an updated shipping date estimate. An instant MP3 (320kbps) download is included with every seven-inch preorder. "Anonymous/The Left is Right" is a self-released item, and our webstore is the only place in the world to get it. Quantities are limited, and once the product is sold out, it's sold out forever. Placing a pre-order is the only way to ensure you get a copy! We will not be selling Anonymous/The Left is Right on tour.

Get it direct from the band site. Listen over here.

Desaparecidos new single

Damn almost went the whole week without mentioning that Desaparecidos has a new single, after god knows how many years, Conner Oberst and friends are hopefully back to put together some epic post punk protest songs. From the looks of this sleeve art I think that's a safe bet.
After the trip Connor has been on, the Monster of Folk, changing tastes... is it going to be that much different a decade later? I don't know, whenever I put Read Music/Speak Spanish on it's a pretty amazing document of that period in time, musically and lyrically. Hard to say. I want to hear this bad though.

Get it direct from the band site, ships in October....no preview anywhere.

Desaparecidos - Saving $$$$$$$$

I posted a million years ago about the infamous Desaparaceidos single, the regularly went for upwards of 300 bucks, but even the full length just weeks ago went for around 100. I never thought I would listen to the sweet sounds of this Conner Oberst side project on vinyl, let alone ever even hear the tracks on that single.
Then this email announced this morning from Saddle Creek they repressed the LP with the bonus 7"!...didn't see this coming at all.

Desaparecidos made me rethink the entire idea of a modern protest album. They weren't new ideas, anti-suburbia, anti-war, but they weren't ever delivered with this condemning sentiment and punk volume in the 2000's. As flawed or naive as the possibility is, it's completely pulled it off lyrically and musically. Why even attempt this hoarse screaming detail about jeans, SUV's, samples of girls talking about the perfect guy, or a recording of a conversation about tiny towns was a perfect union. I still can't think of anything in this decade that's as powerful as every single track on this album and attempts to tackle politics and social commentary. It's Diary turned outwards on strip malls and ambition. Look at this sickness.... no one can fault this attempt...and really it unfortunately hasn't aged a day. It's fucking flawless from beginning to end. I'm expecting great things from that single as well.

See... I don't see it as just spending 18$, I just saved $382.

Look at me, talking about money. I have no soul.
Desaparecidos save me.

Get it from Saddle Creek.

For the first time in 4 years, Read Music/Speak Spanish is available on high quality 180g vinyl!

AND for the first time ever the non-album tracks from The Happiest Place on Earth single are included as a bonus 7"!

Desaparecidos - most expensive 7" ever!

Who knew that this had to be the rarest single in 7" history...not even the first white stripes single on sub pop has gone for this much. I'm shocked. At least there is a buy it now option for $400.00. But I have a few questions about this listing before I blow all my savings:

It is my understanding that there were only 3000 of these records pressed. Long Out-of-Print and very hard to find.

There's 3000 copies of this....so potentially there's 1.2 million dollars to be made on this 7"? Damn I wish I would have picked one of these up, it really would have been worth the import price from Witchita.
I keep looking for signs of the 7" apocalypse....it might be sooner than I thought. I know it's all going to end in a huge pile of melted vinyl....some kind of disaster, or market collapse and I have to keep asking myself...is it worth owning and listening to that Vivia Girls single? Or should be buying every copy I see at other music and auctioning them off? I'll become part of the problem. Can I look back and say...I'm glad I kept that Iron and Wine sub pop single even know that no one cares about 45's anymore because there's no more private property and the water supply has dried up and gas is upwards of $10/gallon.
I can answer yes...I enjoyed it very much thanks.

Desaparecidos was, of course, considered to be the "Saddle Creek Supergroup" featuring Conor Oberst on lead vocals and guitar, in a much more post-hardcore style with members who currently play and/or have previously played in notable Omaha bands including The Good Life, '89 Cubs, Intramural, Statistics, Little Brazil, Two of Cups, City Lights, Race for Titles, Bright Eyes (Ian McElroy - Conor's Cousin), and Criteria.
