Mayyors - repress at live shows

You know after listening to this single again, finding it on ongakubaka, I realized more how awesome this is. I like the attitude of the Ongakubaka guys, cassettes didn't kill the music business and neither will the internet....it's not going to stop me from at least trying to find this single, let alone make me a fan of every release I see.
Trust me I can consume a hell of a lot of music. I don't think I'm near my threshold yet.
This has to win best sleeve...and taking their lack of internet presence even further, there is no information anywhere. i think the tracks are in black ink printed on black cardstock on the back.

Mayyors are that combination of heavy electronic effected guitar fuzz, and frantic sound. It's such a shame this was out of print immediately and they haven't released a full length yet. The A side pt 2 'Airplanes' sounds really Land of Milk and Honey Ministry, that blew me away back then and Mayyors pick it right back up and run with it. The vocals are buried under tons of phaser, but the sounds they are getting on guitar are just great.
'White Jeep' continues this assault and I imagine live they run all together in one giant track of changing riffs, between the pauses of feedback and what sounds like reel to reel being slowed down.
I'm glad they are at least repressing this limited run for fans at their shows. It'll show up on a compilation someday...greatest hits.

Mt St Mtn says: ... Mayyors will have a small repress (100 copies) of their long out-of-print 2nd single, "Megans LOLZ" for this show. Repress will feature a cover variation and will only be available at their next few live shows (SF, LA, San Diego, Davis) for as long as they last.

People should go to these shows and take orders...like a Christies auction...phone in and bid on the single.

What I know about the Mayyors won't even be able to fill a paragraph, they are from the west coast and I love the track in this vimeo clip. I think it makes perfect sense to have all your pedals on a keyboard stand board in front of you for the bass and guitar effects, the way they're walking over and twisting knobs in the middle of of meltdown. This is a great mix of weird sound and feedback all at attack speed. Their live show just looks sick, hopefully they make it out to the east coast. It's kind of classic all out, giving everything, sacrifice yourself for the performance. Getting even better live. This kind of thing is captured on their last single, which is hard to reproduce, with even more attention to the echo vocals and punk guitar manipulation, it's a whole other thing entirely.
Their other single is long gone, so get on this!

Naked on the Vague - Poltergeist Palm + Mayyors repress

I have to go get that full length 'Blood Pressure Sessions', after investigating Naked on the Vague, after I find this single of course. But I saw that LP somewhere last weekend and now it's haunting me that I didn't get it. It's still out there, but I like instantly picking things up sometimes.

Speaking of haunting or ghost-punk, their myspace tracks have the feeling of something like Animal Collective's Campfire Songs or anything from Pocahaunted, it's crazy ideas coming together one night, dark stuff for sure, the kind of thing that actually might scare you a little with the lights out.
But at the same time it isn't so experimental that it's alienating...just for the sake of something new, but completely unlistenable. It's the perfect kind of new music, the references are few and far between, but you don't know exactly what they could have been listening to or thinking about to get here. It's not so much about the noise but how it's working together in an almost traditional pop way.
It's really one of those projects that's out there on it's own, and is grouped right or wrong with a lot of these other equally interesting things.... Times New Viking, Eat Skull, Robedoor....not not fun anything. You get the idea.

Mayyors by the way of Mt. St. Mtn.

This was the only thing I could find about this band, a couple photos and some show listings in the Sacramento area, but I got this email Saturday from Mt St. Mtn and I didn't even have to know anything else, this was paypaled for immediately. A band this mysterious with a table full of god knows what effects and a guy kneeling playing bass, while someone checks the fan...because you know what? .....It's getting mutherfucking hot in here.

Everything I like lately has those elements, the usual rock and roll facade, guitars, bass, drums and then a shitload of homemade/shitty/found/whatever effects boxes and wires. I love everything about it.

This reminds me that the people putting out this amazing sound are also making it...I guess you don't want to necessarily put out your own 7", just secretly mail it to those who have $5.

Bottom line, this is just all on good faith, I know it will be great by association, that is what MSM has bred, sheer blind devotion to their seven inches...good job.
