Tokyo Police Club - Saddle Creek

This might end up being a guilty pleasure, something you can't help but like. This track on their myspace is borderline embarassing to be listening to at my age..it almost makes me cringe a little. Does it sound like he's trying too hard, or that it's so produced into sameness. It sounds really way too ready for a mainstream audience, or maybe it's the affected english accented vocals...they started out so good....don't get me wrong this is really catchy and I'm sure will do well, but I really don't think it's even the same band as the one that released the EP single thing.
I have to say if I had a bunch of their previous seven inches.....they would be going to a better home.

Both tracks are available on their myspace.

From Saddle Creek
Also available now is a limited edition 7" for "Tessellate." The 7" features the single and the Tom Campesinos! Remix and is available on at shows and the online store.

tokyo police club - Your english is good

I am a little skeptical of these guys, that's not wrong when you like an EP so much.
My only criticism, and you can hear it in this song, is it's getting into that production that believes in adding more and more to the mix until it resembles something from 10 years earlier. Something like that 'Send me an angel' song from that bmx movie. Don't ask me why but I could see them doing today's equivalent.
I do like the vocals, and the back and forth of everyone joining in along with an explosion of keyboards and then they drop off to just a kick drum. It's not as huge as Nature of the Experiment, but it's a crowd jumper.
The jury is still out on these guys, they have a ways to go before they're taken seriously, but they haven't driven off the cliff just yet.
An acoustic B-side? Now you're just messing with me.

From Insound.

TPC decided to record a new single that'll be out on 9 july in the UK and Ireland to coincide with the dates. its called "your english is good" - its an absolute stormer with a trade mark shouted slogan, a big instrumental hook and tender verses -
Finally after wearing out our copy of 'A Lesson In Crime' we’re pleased as punch to inform y’all that there's something new to own by Tokyo Police Club.
Available on 7" and digitally, live favourite, 'Your English Is Good' comes with acoustic number 'Swedes in Stockholm’ .

tokyo police club • Cheer it on

Cheer It On / Citizens Of Tomorrow

I like bands that really sell it, that are screaming at the top of their lungs, playing like this might be the last recording ever, I mean what are you leaving behind? Does this get lost somewhere, you just get jaded and with experience, it's been done, the expectations, it's not fun anymore.... it becomes work.
Can you only record one decent album before it all turns to shit?
They are capturing some kind of pure fun here, even in the obligatory slow jams. The tracks are meticulously crafted, like they care, they have rehearsed enough to be competent, and still carry that garagey feel. This isn't an act. They don't get stuck in a line of thought, it changes too quick to pin it down. I just get enough to want to hear it again.
I love this sound of rocking, really strong rhythm, distorted bass hooks, and then a great keyboard front and center, and it's exhausting. It has a dramatic kind of bloc partyness to it, maybe because I've been giving that a chance lately.

Nature of the experiment is a great track at their myspace I keep listening to. I don't want to get sick of it. I don't want to kill it, maybe I kind of have to to see if I still care in a month.
They have just launched into a massive world wide tour from the looks of the insane listing of shows they have lined up in the next few months.
Hello all,
Just a quick email to let you all know that this week sees the release of Cheer it On, the new single from Tokyo Police Club. The 7" and digital download both come with the exclusive track, 'Citizens Of Tomorrow (Space Ballad Version)'.
go get it now at the following reputable retailers...
Memphis Industries Shop

I had a really great time at the looserecord party saturday night, everyone was so great, I didn't feel like some seven inch freak, and I'm excited to keep writing for them. That is a quality organization.

The nature of the experiment / box 7 inch is still available at Insound also. I am really going to order this.
