Friday Singles meltdown

Having been hard at work on reviews lately, I often fail to get a chance to post about 7"'s that just came out, or are available for preorder.
This Shannon and the Clams holiday single was announced yesterday from 1,2,3,4 Go Records. It's already Christmas this year and they were smart and must have gotten started on this a while ago..and they look so jazzed about the holiday! Oh joy! It looks like one of those Kmart portraits...they set up a tree and everything.

Bringing more holiday spirit is Blessure Grave is at it with a split with Bestial Mouths. They tease with an acoustic and then bring it heavy with toms and their weird timing. Bestial Mouths sound like a good combo, minimal, heavy echo vocals and that feeling of dread.

Then Stones Throw had to go and release this massive set that reminds me to go I have to go watch that 45 battle with DJ shadow on netflix again.

Badd Santa is Peanut Butter Wolf's holiday mix project. I am a huge fan of stones throw's podcasts, my favorite of all time is the James Brown tribute, it was so incredible, mixing together the era's of his career with songs that samples his riffs and then they would slowly mix back to the original, all keeping that manic theatrical hallelujiah, and punch in the gut of Mr. Brown.
Silent night has some really off key vocals, I recognize it from something, but can't quite place it, a movie? Something like that. There's sleigh bell samples and 'Lovely Xmas' sounds like a real nightmare.
That's the one time of the year the family can sit around the record player while dad spins the xmas 45's from years past and we can write letters to Santa about what 7"'s will be in the stocking this year.
I want to get another case for just xmas related 7"'s. I saw a whole section at the WFMU record fair, but they all looked wayyy before my time.

Turntable lab has a seven inch from this project that was released as a full length right before christmas as well as fat beats.
