Test icicles etched - 100
Test Icicles we hardly knew ye. They were like a mish mash of styles, definitely bringing something new to the scene. Amazing energy, as catchy as they were experimental, I saw then going places the Liars were on "They were wrong..." But just as quickly as it began it's over. This is a remix so I could take it or leave it. Then there's an etching on the other side? This has been happening lately, every other 7 inch has an etching... it would be nice if I didn't see it on every record. A picture disk would be better. I like art as much as the next guy, but give me a new track, don't waste that precious vinyl because you were lazy. I mean that drawing took 10 minutes, and we like you as a musician.
I would appreciate a lost/rare track from a band that has recently broken up.
You know what... it's import anyway so go to Domino and see what you can do.
Circle Square Triangle for £3.00
Upon its release towards the end of 2005, ‘Circle. Square. Triangle’ with its demented, energy-fuelled three minutes of madness cemented the feeling among many that Test Icicles were set to be the future of gonzoid teen-rock. Obsessive legions of fans, pin up looks, genre-defying genius and the aura of genuine stars, they were the future sound of the UK underground. Now we are left devoid of the wonderful world of Rory, Sam and Dev, ready for a swathe of imitators and homages to try and fill the huge void they have left, but take solace in this devilish new remix of ‘CST’ by another of the most refreshing and exciting bands of 2006 – Spank Rock. Their producer XXXchange has fired in a noised-up dancefloor version, the rasping vocals providing the meeting point of an assault from all angles, bolting rave synths and breakbeats on to the Pantera-meets Beastie Boys blueprint. This is a very limited 1 track 7". The flip side sports an etching designed by Rory and we have only about 100 copies of this at Domino Mart HQ so if you'd like a copy please get your order in quick!
That has to be the smallest run I have heard announced by any artist.
