A GUN CALLED TENSION / TRIUMPH OF LETHARGY SKINNED ALIVE TO DEATH

A GUN CALLED TENSION / TRIUMPH OF LETHARGY SKINNED ALIVE TO DEATH
There is a War Side / Diamond in the Mine A Gun

Ok the first two names are bands, and the second two are the tracks...I don't know either of these bands and checking them out on myspace, A Gun called tension is an MC and the guitarist from modest mouse. It's what happens when rap meets the pretty girls make graves lead singer, but unlike bodycount, this seems to be doing something worthwhile or at the very least not obvious. A combination that is really experimental, suceeding and failing.
TOLSATD is another experiment in rock but both it seems have
Dann Gallucci (ex-MCD/Modest Mouse) tying everything together. From what I've read and heard of this project it's really punk/metal experiemental....I'll take it.
To top it off these are leonard cohen covers, so everyone wants to hear this.

Split 7"
Called Tension and Triumph of Lethargy Skinned Alive to Death's split seven inch is a tribute to Leonard Cohen. AGCT (Dann Gallucci ex-Modest Mouse and Murder City Devils, and Sean Reveron of Free Association and NYC Rockers) have re-imagined "There is a War" from the 1974 album "New Skin for the Old Ceremony" as a dub anthem, while Triumph of Lethargy (Spencer Moody of Rabbit Ears and Smoke and Smoke, Corey Brewer of Bright Shiny Object along with new member Dann Gallucci) have chosen "Diamonds in the Mine" from the 1971 album "Songs of Love and Hate". These songs were (in their original form) were not chosen as singles, and they have not been included in any "Best of..." package or previous tribute album. These are songs preformed by and for Leonard Cohen fans.
These two songs came about unbeknownst of one another, in the Summer of 2005 Triumph of Lethargy were considering covering the entire album "Songs of Love and Hate" around the same time AGCT were recording their cover with Phil Ek. Dann joined Tolsatd for their summer tour and in the Fall/winter recorded the version featured here. Full albums of each group are slated to be released through Go Midnight Records later in the year.

Get this at Go Midnight records.
